Keep these points in mind before you start the route.

Payment

Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay before arrival and carry RMB cash backup for mountain shops, drivers and small restaurants.

Rail tickets

Use 12306 English version, Trip.com or staffed station counters. Buy tickets with passport and carry the original passport.

Mountain weather

Cloud seas, fog, rain and visibility strongly affect Huangshan and Sanqingshan. Keep backup routes ready.

Cableways & shuttles

Huangshan and Sanqingshan depend on scenic shuttles and cableways. Confirm opening and last descent times.

Luggage

For Huangshan mountain-top stays, take only a small overnight backpack and store large suitcases below the mountain.

Bamboo raft

Nine-Bend Stream bamboo rafting needs time-slot reservation and can stop in unsafe weather. Keep Wuyishan activity swaps flexible.
